Frequently Asked Questions

What materials do you use?

I work on clairfontaine pastelmat.

The pastels I use are from the following brands: Rembrandt softpastels (hard and soft sticks), Caran d'Ache softpastels (hard sticks), Conté a Paris softpastels (hard sticks), Schmincke softpastels, Faber-Castell pitt pastel pencils, Caran d'Ache pastel pencils and Stabilo Carbothello pastel pencils.

Other materials I use are a kneaded eraser, a sharp knife for sharpening the pencils, baby wipes to clean my hands and (most importantly) good music!

Can you draw every animal?

Right now I've mostly drawn dogs, cats and horses. I'm always open to a new challenge, so if you have a different kind of animal, you can always contact me.

why don't you draw smaller than 30x42 cm (A3)?

I don't like working on small areas. I love to get as much details in as possible, if I work with pastels on small sizes, I can't do that.
It's not easy to draw a detailed horse on A3/A4 size. That's why I'm only doing close-ups and small animals on A4 sized paper and a minimum of 35x50 cm for other animals.

How long does it take to make a portrait?

This depends on the kind of animal, the papersize and difficulty.
A drawing with the size of 50x70cm can easily take 25 to 30 hours to make. Sometimes it's less than that, but it can also be more.
If I have a portrait with two animals, it can easily take 45 to 50 hours to make.
