Let me introduce myself.

My name is Kirsten and I’m 35 years old. I live in ‘the Bollenstreek’, a place in the Netherlands.

My big loves are my little dog Tascha and my horse Furby. In my spare time you can find me in the stables with Furby, or at the beach with Tascha.

My passion for drawing started with watching my uncle. My uncle used to paint and draw as well. Seeing him draw really made me excited to do it as well. I wanted to be as good as he was, so from a young age I picked up the pencil. This hasn’t always be as easy. Time after time I didn’t like what I made. Until I finally got it.

When i got in to high school, if soon found out studying wasn’t for me, my drawing skills  on the other hand got better and better. Unfortunately it’s not easy to make a living out of it, so after high school I got a job and drawing stayed a hobby and a passion.

Around the age of 25 I decided to follow some photography- and editing courses. In these courses I not only learned how to make great pictures, but also to edit (for example) 2 animals from different pictures in to one animal.

Through the years I’ve used many materials. I’ve used watercolor, oil paint, coloured pencils and more. Nothing really stood out for me, until I used pastels on the age of 14. This material did exactly what I wanted it to do. I still work with pastels.

I aim to draw the animals as perfect as possible, but perfection doesn’t exist. I learn from every drawing I make.

As said before, I aim to draw the animal as beautiful and realistic as possible, but more importantly, to capture it’s soul and character.
